Initially founded in 1990 Hodgkinson Builders now has 30 year’s national experience in property development. Their aim is to help communities redevelop and support the next generation of bricklayers. With over 250 employees it is critical that their print and IT infrastructure is always preforming smoothly and efficiently.
Hodgkinson’s noticed that their incumbent supplier wasn’t keeping up to date with the latest technology which was leaving the business behind and putting their business at risk in terms of security. They also realised that the ability to grow and expand the business would have been impossible with their outdated systems therefore they needed to improve them.
No longer brickin’ it
DNS conducted a site audit which involved running software to see everything that was on the network, identify security concerns and issues as well as to see what programs they were currently running. Hodgkinson builders felt comfortable that their needs would be looked after and modernised however, initially there were concerns surrounding how the changes were going to affect the business (in terms of downtime and disruption).
Nevertheless, they were assured that there would be minimal interruption for everyone.
“I can confirm this was nothing to worry about. Everything was organised and planned, and everyone was kept in the loop. All extensive works were conducted out of office time to minimise disruption.”
A relationship built on solid foundations
Hodgkinson’s were also impressed by the DNS teams desire to get them up and running securely as soon as possible.
“DNS go the extra mile with our IT and put into place the latest software and security features. This has allowed the business to achieve a cyber essentials accreditation in a record time of 1 week whereas it would usually take 6months to achieve.”
Paving the way
If the systems at Hodgkinson’s were to fail the business would not be able to operate. These risks were assessed by DNS, and subsequently we put a cloud-based system in place as a preventative measure. This was invaluable to the Hodgkinson Team during the Covid-19 pandemic as the staff were able to transfer working from home with no disruption to the business.
“Our favourite feature is that DNS have access to our IT and print infrastructure remotely. This means they can remotely resolve issues for any user instantly, whether this is someone based at our head office or someone out on site.
Our MFD is also automatically topped up before any supplies run low, meaning we have never been left with the machine out of action, which is crucial for printing project plans & business critical documents”
